UK Theatre EST 1894 2023 Partner MemberSTAR/UK THEATRE

STAR IS THE REPRESENTATIVE BODY FOR THE UK TICKETING INDUSTRY, PROMOTING CONSUMER CONFIDENCE AND EXCELLENT SERVICE THROUGH A STRICT CODE OF PRACTICE.

STAR’s membership includes ticket agencies, theatres, arenas, sports organisations and venues, music venues, travel companies and many others in the ticketing industry. For example, we estimate that sales through STAR members represent over 90% of UK live entertainment ticket sales (over a million tickets per week).

With widespread support and recognition from industry organisations, venues, promoters and producers as well as law enforcement and government, STAR has been at the forefront of cross-industry initiatives to improve consumer confidence, combat fraud and make ticket buying safer for the past twenty years.

Through STAR's special partnership with UK Theatre, members of UKT that are also registered charities do not pay the annual Associate Membership fee for STAR unless the aggregate seating capacity across all the venues included in their application exceeds 950. This means that, for theatres with a capacity lower than 950, membership of STAR is free. If capacity does exceed 950 then the annual fee is currently (June 2023) 22p per seat.

Registered charities joining under this arrangement with UK Theatre that do not pay a fee do not have a vote in elections to the STAR Council or other membership polls but receive all other benefits of STAR membership and representatives are able to stand for election to the STAR Council. The Council currently includes two STAR members from this sector, Rebecca Molloy (Bristol Old Vic) and James Broderick (Sadler's Wells).

Further details about STAR membership and the benefits can be found here.

Applications for membership should be made in the usual way, using our online form, ensuring that the registered charity number is included and the fact that the company applying is also a member of UK Theatre.
