STAR RESPONSES TO CONSULTATION ON RESALE AND CALL FOR EVIDENCE ON PRICING
The Legislation Group of the STAR Council has been working on our responses to the two calls from the Government. It has taken a little longer than planned to get to our final versions of these, but you can access them both using the links below.
There have been many conversations about this with members, including an online members' meeting, and with other stakeholders. STAR also attended a round table meeting with ministers two weeks ago along with a number of ticket companies. The topic was also covered in a STAR session at the recent Ticketing Professionals Conference.
Both the Consultation and Call for Evidence close this Friday 4 April. If you haven't yet done so, we would still recommend all members submitting their own responses to the questions posed, although referencing STAR's responses may be helpful to you in doing so.

DMCC ACT
The consumer protection provisions of the The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act come into force from 6 April.
Much of the legislation already exists but has been updated and brought over into the new Act. Drip Pricing is specifically dealt with in the new legislation and there are also new enforcement powers for the Competition and Markets Authority.
There are guidance notes that the CMA has drafted but which will be revised before being published as final guidance. We know that Business Companion will also issue some guidance but we don’t expect the final versions of either of these to be available before the commencement of the provisions of the Act on 6 April.
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute is holding free webinars on 10 April for businesses which may be useful:

JOIN THE STAR COUNCIL?
With our AGM coming up on 16th July, nominations are now being invited from STAR members who would like to stand for election as a director on the STAR Council.
The Council is always keen that there is a good mix of skills and experience around the table to reflect the breadth and diversity of the membership.
There is a total of nine seats for elected directors on the Council. This year, one director resigned last year and six directors reach the end of their term. Only one of these is eligible to stand again for re-election. This means there will be six vacancies open for election.
Anyone standing for election will be asked to submit a short biography and photograph with their nomination as well as indicating why they wish to stand and what sector(s) of the industry they would particularly cover.
Details of the current Council can be seen at:
https://www.star.org.uk/about/star-council/
A job description for Council members from last year can be found here. This will be updated in the coming weeks. If you would like any further information or a discussion about what joining the STAR Council involves, please contact Jonathan Brown or have a word with any of the current members of the Council.
Nominations should be submitted online using the button below. Each person standing will need to be proposed and seconded by another STAR member. Both the proposal and nomination will be checked on receipt. The closing date for nominations is 6pm on Friday 20 June.
Elections will be by an electronic ballot taking place between 9am on Tuesday 8 July and 6pm on Friday 11 July. The results will be announced by email to members on Monday 14 July in advance of the AGM which takes on Wednesday 16 July.
Details of those standing for election will be sent out to members on 23 June . The primary STAR contact in each member organisation will receive details of instructions for the online voting system on 3 July.

AGM & TICKETING SEMINAR
We are pleased that plans are in place for us to return to the Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler’s Wells Theatre for our annual seminar, preceded by the AGM. This will take place on Wednesday 16 July from midday onwards. The STAR Council has already started to discuss a great programme for the afternoon, but are keen to hear from members about any topics they would particularly like to be discussed during the afternoon.
